Data Center Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design plans for new equipment deployments using data center best practices
• Coordinate logistical tasks including procurement, shipping, moving, and inventory management
• Install and configure server OS in a PXE environment
• Install, cable, configure, and troubleshoot network and server equipment
• Maintain high standards for security, organization, documentation, safety, and cleanliness

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a data center environment
• Strong understanding of data center best practices and cabling methodology
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (Layer 2 and 3 connectivity)
• Proficiency in a Linux environment
• Experience with server and network hardware (e.g., Dell, Cisco, Arista, Ciena)
• Ability to design, deploy, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders
• Availability for some evening and weekend work

Preferred Qualifications

• Scripting skills in Bash or Python
• Experience with OTDR testing tools like EXFO and VIAVI
