Data Center Controls Network Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define controls, automation, and OT network requirements for AI data center campuses
• Develop reference architectures, engineering standards, and reusable design templates
• Design OT and infrastructure network architectures including physical/logical topology, IP addressing, and segmentation
• Develop day-two network operations requirements including change management and firmware lifecycle
• Partner with electrical, mechanical, IT, and security teams to align OT networks with GPU deployments
• Define integration patterns for protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, OPC UA, and MQTT
• Lead technical evaluation of controls integrators, network equipment suppliers, and contractors
• Support factory witnessed testing (FWT), site acceptance testing, and integrated systems testing
• Troubleshoot complex controls network issues including packet loss, latency, and protocol incompatibilities

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or OT networking
• Expertise in resilient OT network architecture and lifecycle support
• Hands-on experience with Layer 3 OT network design (routing, VRFs, ACLs, segmentation)
• Hands-on experience with Layer 2 security and switching (MACsec, port security, loop prevention)
• Experience with industrial redundancy protocols such as PRP, HSR, or RSTP/MSTP
• Proficiency with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Rockwell Automation, or Siemens networking platforms
• Experience with industrial protocols including BACnet, Modbus, OPC UA, and IEC-61850
• Experience with virtualized environments such as VMware vSAN or Microsoft Azure Stack HCI
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Network, or Systems Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Networking certifications such as CCNA/CCNP or JNCIA/JNCIS
• Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, GICSP, or ISA/IEC 62443
• Experience with network automation using Ansible, Terraform, or Python
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or SQL Server for OT telemetry
