Data Architect/Quality Assurance Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead data discovery and requirements-gathering sessions with departments and technical teams
• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise integrations and APIs
• Define reusable data architecture patterns, naming conventions, and reference data standards
• Develop data contracts, schema standards, and validation rules
• Establish systematic data quality checks for accuracy, consistency, and integrity
• Work with data engineers to implement automated validation workflows using SQL, Python, or DBT
• Identify and document data quality issues and root causes
• Support metadata management, data lineage, and governance documentation
• Partner with security, privacy, and legal teams to ensure appropriate data handling

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or data quality assurance
• Proven experience designing data models and documenting data definitions
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases (Postgres/PostGIS preferred)
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data lineage
• Familiarity with API design, JSON schemas, or OpenAPI specifications
• Experience with Python, DBT, or automated QA frameworks
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and workflow orchestration tools like Airflow
• Experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with spatial datasets or municipal data
• Experience in public-sector or large enterprise environments
