Data Analyst - Indirect Tax

Responsibilities

• Support indirect tax compliance and reporting through data reconciliations and validating transaction data
• Investigate Avalara and subledger variances and system exceptions
• Monitor and manage indirect tax exemption certificates across North America
• Partner with Data Engineering, Product, and Accounting teams to improve tax processes and data controls
• Support indirect tax filing preparation by organizing data and reviewing workpapers
• Manage communications with taxing authorities regarding notices, account balances, and audits
• Maintain thorough tax records, including reconciliation workpapers and audit support materials

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in tax data analysis, finance operations, or tax system implementation
• Proven ability to work with large datasets and reconcile data across multiple systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow-ups

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Data Analytics, or Information Systems
• Experience with U.S. sales and use tax, VAT/GST, or Avalara
• Familiarity with SQL, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Python, or Databricks
• Experience working with ERP/subledger systems or financial reporting tools
