Damage Prevention Technician

Responsibilities

• Locate pipelines using industry standard locating equipment in accordance with operating procedures
• Respond to gas leak surveys reported by aerial patrols
• Read and interpret alignment sheets and assist with pipeline line crossings
• Identify encroachment issues and manage unauthorized activities
• Provide damage prevention education to contractors, landowners, and government agencies
• Perform right-of-way maintenance, including erosion repairs and line patrols
• Act as a Permitting Authority regarding Control of Work Processes
• Support inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment such as actuators and valves
• Provide on-call support to the region

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Oil and gas operating experience
• 3+ years of related experience
• Valid driver's licence and ability to provide a driver's abstract
• Ability to travel up to 50% for meetings, training, or temporary assignments
• Ability to work in adverse weather and temperatures
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening and drug/alcohol testing

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with line locating
• 5+ years of relevant work experience related to pipelines
• Experience with valve and valve operator operation, maintenance, and repair
• Experience operating and maintaining high-pressure natural gas pipelines or facilities
• SAP experience
