Cytotechnologist

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for malignant or abnormal conditions
• Perform microscopic evaluation of liquid-based and conventional cytology slides
• Ensure accurate documentation of workload and screening activities per CLIA and laboratory guidelines
• Finalize testing results into the laboratory information system (LIS) in a timely manner
• Maintain integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of all results
• Comply with all safety, infection control, and HIPAA policies
• Provide backup for cytology processing and other laboratory tasks as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university
• Successful completion of an accredited Cytology program
• ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification
• Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a Cytology laboratory
• ThinPrep and SurePath certifications
• Experience with automated and non-automated testing
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
