Cytotechnologist

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens to determine possible malignant or abnormal conditions
• Perform microscopic evaluation of liquid-based and conventional cytology slides
• Ensure accurate documentation of workload and screening activities in compliance with CLIA and laboratory guidelines
• Finalize testing results into the laboratory information system (LIS) in an accurate and timely manner
• Maintain absolute integrity in the performance and reporting of results
• Provide backup for cytology processing and other laboratory tasks as needed
• Comply with all safety, infection control, and HIPAA policies

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university
• Successful completion of an accredited Cytology program
• ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification
• Valid Florida Cytotechnologist license
• Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or within a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a Cytology laboratory
• ThinPrep and SurePath certifications
• Experience with automated and non-automated testing
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
