Customs Specialist

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ISF and Customs Clearance by communicating with customers, freight forwarders, and internal departments
• Perform audit reviews on assigned brokerage files and payments to customs
• Process documents through the company’s ABI system to obtain Customs and government agency releases
• Review and monitor Customs rejections, requests for information, and other government correspondence
• Maintain current customs compliance documentation in adherence to domestic and international shipping regulations
• Troubleshoot and resolve documentation discrepancy issues through effective verbal and written communication
• Assess document accuracy regarding country of origin, IOR, terms of sale, and value to ensure regulatory compliance
• Update system notes and milestones for every file to ensure visibility

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 4+ years of experience in Customs Clearance and Customer Service
• Working knowledge of CargoWise
• Knowledge of U.S. Regulatory Laws and domestic/international geography (countries, cities, and ocean ports)
• Basic knowledge of INCO terms, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and Customs regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
