Customs & Excise Advisor

Responsibilities

• Support UK supply chain compliance by managing Customs & Excise processes and HMRC reporting
• Maintain AEO status and conduct internal audits to ensure regulatory compliance
• Determine correct customs classification, non-preferential origin, and preferential origin eligibility
• Manage excise duty classification for goods produced or imported into the UK
• Oversee key processes including the HMRC mailbox, MSS data, and reporting requirements (APPA, W1, W5D)
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Planning, and Procurement teams to align with HMRC regulations
• Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement through legislative updates and training
• Work with Logistics teams to resolve documentation issues and integrate compliance requirements into operations

Requirements

• Technical expertise in Customs & Excise regulations and HMRC compliance
• Experience maintaining AEO status and conducting internal audits
• Proficiency in customs and excise duty classification of goods
• Strong skills in inventory management and reporting
• Ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements to diverse functional areas
• Analytical mindset with the ability to identify process improvements and cost-avoidance opportunities
