About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and all applicable import/export laws.
- Develop, implement, and maintain customs brokerage compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Act as the primary point of contact for CBP, auditors, and government agencies during reviews and inquiries.
- Conduct internal customs compliance audits covering entry accuracy, valuation, classification, and recordkeeping.
- Manage corrective action plans for identified risks, errors, or violations.
- Oversee post-entry amendments, protests, disclosures, and penalty mitigation processes.
- Provide compliance guidance and training to customs brokers, operations teams, and stakeholders.
- Review and approve complex customs issues including HTSUS classification, valuation, FTAs, and AD/CVD.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
- 5–8+ years of experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance, or import/export operations.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. customs laws, CBP regulations, and trade compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of tariff classification (HTSUS), valuation, country of origin, and FTAs.
- Experience with CBP audits, Focused Assessments, and informed compliance reviews.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for regulatory correspondence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (LCB).
- CCS (Certified Customs Specialist), CTCS, or similar trade compliance certifications.
- Prior experience managing or leading customs compliance programs.
