About the role

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed internet, video, and voice networks including associated wiring and equipment
  • Perform maintenance and repair on outside plant facilities within assigned geographic service areas
  • Climb poles, dig to bury cable, work in utility access holes or controlled environmental vaults, and locate buried telephone cables
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations
  • Assist other technical personnel and support sales and marketing activities
  • Direct customer-facing work and provide sales referrals

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to distinguish colors on facilities
  • Ability to handle 28-foot extension ladders and lift up to 150 lbs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and varying shifts including overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office applications
  • Completion of service tech boot camp training and relevant technical coursework (POTS/DSL, cable splicing, HSI)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a customer-facing telecom operations technician
  • Basic electricity training/certification or equivalent work experience
  • ADSL installation/repair experience
  • A+/Net+ certification
