About the role
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, provide quotes, and handle order entry.
- Place customer orders via telephone, fax, email, electronic methods, or walk-in counter sales.
- Influence gross profit by negotiating sale and purchase prices within established parameters.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to drive repeat business and process improvements.
- Manage inventory levels for customers, including ordering items and expediting backorders.
- Source products from branch, distribution center, or supplier inventory.
- Determine the most cost-effective shipping methods for customer orders.
- Support specific customer locations, which may include vending machine stocking or toolroom management.
- Assist less experienced Customer Service Representatives with problem-solving and locating items.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3 to 5 years of related customer service or industrial experience.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening abilities.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and maintain high attention to detail.
