About the role
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, provide quotes, and handle order entry.
- Place customer orders via telephone, fax, email, electronic methods, or walk-in counter sales.
- Influence gross profit by negotiating sale and purchase prices within established parameters.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to drive repeat business and process improvements.
- Manage inventory levels by ordering items and sourcing products from branch, distribution center, or supplier inventory.
- Expedite backorders and determine the most cost-effective shipping methods for customer orders.
- Assist less experienced Customer Service Representatives with problem-solving and locating items.
- Work onsite at customer locations more than 50% of the time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3 to 5 years of related customer service or industrial distribution experience.
- Strong computer skills and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and active listening.
- Strong negotiation skills to manage pricing and profitability.
- High level of reliability, organization, and attention to detail.
