Customer Service Account Representative

Responsibilities

• Manage new accounts daily using the Receivables Workstation to solicit payments from patients or guarantors
• Resolve credit balance accounts by preparing necessary adjustments or refunds
• Process accounts on bad debt and bankruptcy lists to promote timely collections
• Manage account inventory to ensure resolution of all accounts within ninety days of billing
• Respond to incoming mail and telephone inquiries from patients regarding assigned accounts
• Assist patients with extended payment plans and financial assistance packages
• Record accurate and detailed notes in electronic files regarding account status and resolution plans
• Identify and record new insurance plans in accordance with pre-billing policies

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or a higher level degree
• Strong data analysis skills
• Ability to read and interpret financial reports
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to develop and maintain interdepartmental relationships

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a hospital or clinic setting
• Previous experience in self-pay or insurance billing and collections
• Billing certification or relevant coursework
