Custodian

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of University facilities, including academic, administrative, athletic, and student living areas
• Perform daily custodial tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, window cleaning, and waste removal
• Thoroughly clean restrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, and mirrors
• Respond to work orders and proactively identify areas requiring extra cleaning or maintenance
• Handle emergency situations, such as spills or cleaning of biomedical waste
• Assist with event setup and facilities support for University-sponsored events
• Perform special projects including deep cleaning and floor/carpet care

Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Proficiency in English to read, understand, and carry out labels, directions, and work orders
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and carpet extractors
• Strong attention to detail and a customer service orientation
• Ability to work a full-time schedule, including potential overtime or changes in hours as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Minimum of two years of custodial or housekeeping-related experience
• Active driver's license
• Experience with minor vacuum or equipment repair
