Custodian

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and service work including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting floors, walls, and fixtures
• Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring all tools are in good operating condition
• Clean interior and exterior windows, glass surfaces, and shades
• Collect garbage and waste, empty receptacles, and clear snow from sidewalks and outdoor areas as required
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs such as changing light bulbs, tightening screws, and minor furniture adjustments
• Move objects weighing 50 pounds or more over long distances and rearrange furniture as needed
• Report unusual circumstances related to building security or maintenance needs to management

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 10
• 1 year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing 50 lbs or more
• Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in institutional janitorial work or hotel environments
• General knowledge of cleaning regulations, security, and safety policies
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• Ability to meet physical requirements involving considerable walking, climbing, and manual labor
