Custodian

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive cleaning tasks including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting floors, walls, and fixtures
• Operate light and heavy-duty cleaning equipment to maintain various surfaces
• Manage cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring items are in good operating condition and requesting refills as needed
• Maintain facility cleanliness by cleaning windows, replenishing restroom supplies, and collecting waste/garbage
• Perform outdoor maintenance such as sweeping sidewalks and clearing snow when required
• Execute minor repairs and maintenance, including changing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and minor furniture adjustments
• Monitor building security by ensuring doors and windows are secured and reporting unusual circumstances
• Assist in emergency situations, such as building evacuations, as directed

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
• At least 1 year of relevant cleaning or custodial experience
• Physical ability to perform manual work, including walking, climbing, and lifting/moving objects weighing 50+ lbs
• Knowledge of cleaning regulations, security, and safety policies
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to work in a diverse environment and respect various perspectives

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in institutional janitorial work or hotel housekeeping
• Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends, to meet operational needs
