Custodian - Substitute

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain floors by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing.
• Sanitize bathrooms, sinks, water fountains, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Empty trash receptacles and maintain cleanliness of windows, walls, and furniture.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing air filters, and oiling locks.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture for school events in the gymnasium or auditorium.
• Maintain building grounds by performing tasks like grass trimming, leaf raking, and snow removal.
• Ensure building security by verifying that all doors and windows are locked and lights are off at the end of shifts.
• Report safety hazards immediately to supervisors to protect students and staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with commercial cleaning and the use of floor machines (scrubbers, buffers, etc.) preferred.
• Ability to perform routine custodial tasks and light maintenance repairs.
• Basic mathematical skills for measuring volume, weight, and distance.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions and work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
