Custodian

Responsibilities

• Perform miscellaneous custodial tasks including trash removal, dusting, spot-cleaning, furniture cleaning, and disinfection
• Execute floor care tasks such as dust mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, buffing, stripping, and refinishing
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including fixtures, walls, and floors, while replenishing paper products and soap
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in compactors or dumpsters
• Maintain custodial equipment and supplies to ensure operational readiness
• Move furniture and assist with event setup tasks as needed to support the university
• Report hazardous conditions, facility repairs, or maintenance needs to appropriate staff
• Respond to student and user concerns in a professional and timely manner

Requirements

• Ability to lift 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with a helper
• Ability to use a variety of cleaning chemicals safely according to manufacturer specifications
• Ability to operate floor machines, carpet vacuums, and other power cleaning equipment
• Ability to stand, walk, crouch, and bend for extended periods
• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, humidity, and noise levels
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• One year of custodial experience preferred
