Custodian

Responsibilities

• Clean residence hall lobbies, bathrooms, hallways, and other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and polishing
• Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to outdoor refuse containers
• Clean, strip, wax, and polish floors using industrial mops and commercial floor machines
• Operate wet/dry vacuums, carpet extraction equipment, and flood pumps as required
• Wash building exteriors, windows, walls, fixtures, steps, and sidewalks using power washers and other cleaning equipment
• Secure campus buildings by locking and unlocking doors using assigned keys
• Move and set up furniture, tables, chairs, and partitions for special events and programs
• Report maintenance needs and safety hazards to supervisors

Requirements

• Ability to walk large buildings and ascend/descend stairs multiple times daily
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Ability to lift and move furniture or equipment weighing 20-40 lbs
• For Custodian 2: Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work
• For Custodian 1: No prior experience or training required
