Custodian I

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning tasks including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing floors
• Clean and polish bathroom fixtures, glass surfaces, ceilings, and walls
• Refill disposable items such as soap, bathroom tissue, and paper towels
• Collect trash from receptacles and empty them throughout the building
• Maintain building exteriors by sweeping sidewalks and performing snow and ice removal at entrances
• Replace light bulbs and clean light fixtures using ladders
• Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed for cleaning or deliveries
• Report breakage and necessary repairs to supervisors

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work on ladders up to 12 feet in height
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and scrubbing for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in custodial work or a related field
• Experience operating commercial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, or buffers
• Experience using work order or work management systems
