Custodian

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial maintenance including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and stripping/waxing floors.
• Clean and restock restrooms with necessary paper and soap supplies.
• Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste.
• Clean windows, walls, furniture, and other assigned surfaces.
• Set up rooms for various college functions based on work orders.
• Determine appropriate chemicals and equipment for specific cleaning tasks.
• Perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment and monitor supply levels.
• Assist with ice, snow, and debris removal as needed.
• Operate service vehicles and ensure all doors and windows are secured after cleaning.

Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of custodial duties through a combination of education and experience.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate equipment such as buffers, carpet shampooers, and various vacuums.
• Ability to safely use and handle cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to read work orders, understand safety procedures, and communicate effectively.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage tasks under pressure.
