Custodian

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed cleaning tasks including dusting surfaces, cleaning walls, and polishing fixtures and furniture
• Maintain floor care through vacuuming, shampooing carpets, spot removal, burnishing, and stripping/waxing
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, shower rooms, and locker rooms
• Remove garbage and recycling from assigned areas and building exteriors
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies within assigned areas
• Report maintenance and safety concerns to the Facilities main office
• Assist with moves, deliveries, and setups for special events or athletic events
• Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Requirements

• Ability to carry up to 50 lbs and operate machinery/power tools safely
• Availability to work in excess of normal schedules and be reachable for emergencies
• Effective communication skills for exchanging information and following instructions
• Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with students and staff
• Basic computer skills (Gmail, Microsoft Word, Excel)
• Ability to work in extreme elements, including inclement weather and low-temperature facilities
• Ability to bend, reach, and stand for long periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous custodial experience in an educational setting
• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods, procedures, and chemicals
• High school diploma or equivalent
