Custodian 2

Responsibilities

• Clean restrooms, offices, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, and hallways through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and polishing
• Mix or blend routine cleaning solutions to proper concentrations based on manufacturer recommendations
• Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to appropriate outdoor refuse containers
• Decontaminate and deodorize indoor and outdoor waste receptacles
• Operate cleaning equipment such as wet/dry vacuums, carpet extractors, floor polishers, and floor cleaners
• Secure and unlock assigned areas within the building and maintain responsibility for assigned keys
• Report safety concerns regarding programs, equipment, and facilities to the supervisor

Requirements

• Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work
• Ability to walk large buildings and ascend/descend stairs multiple times daily
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and crouching
• Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment weighing between 20 and 80 pounds
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination
