About the Company

District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving over 1600 racially and economically diverse students in grades 6-12. DCI’s education centers on an International Baccalaureate curriculum, advanced language learning in Chinese, Spanish, and French, and a culture focused on student agency.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of approximately ten School Custodians
• Coordinate and oversee daily cleaning activities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
• Approve and review timecards in Paylocity and manage staff time-off requests
• Provide constructive performance feedback and conduct regular evaluations
• Ensure staff receive proper training to maintain high cleanliness and safety standards
• Collaborate with Café and Facilities Coordinators to schedule shifts, including holidays and summer coverage
• Respond to emergencies, special events, or weather-related needs
• Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and tracking equipment
• Perform minor repairs in plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• 3–5 years of custodial, facilities, or building maintenance experience
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
• Bilingual in Spanish (required)
• Proficiency with G-Suite tools
• Ability to clear a background check
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform routine manual labor

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Experience in a school or institutional setting
• Knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
