About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and management oversight for the Arabian Leopard Breeding Facility in Taif, Saudi Arabia.
  • Ensure the facility meets world-class standards for animal care, habitats, and operational excellence.
  • Manage senior staff, including the Senior Veterinarian and Head Keeper, and oversee HR functions such as scheduling and performance evaluations.
  • Act as the institutional representative in Saudi Arabia, managing relationships with government, non-governmental, and business entities.
  • Oversee the facility budget in collaboration with the Financial Management Team, ensuring accurate reporting and expense management.
  • Coordinate the development of the site masterplan, including blueprints, investment plans, and timelines.
  • Supervise daily operations, animal inspections, and the implementation of the site breeding program.
  • Manage animal records via ZIMS and lead the accreditation process for EAZA and WAZA membership.
  • Conduct scientific research and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of curatorial experience in zoological parks.
  • MSc or higher in zoology, animal behavior, biology, or animal science.
  • Exceptional project planning and management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage interdisciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
  • Legal authorization to work in Saudi Arabia.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and work outside conventional hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Arabic is considered a strong asset.
  • Active membership in one or more industry organizations.
