About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop trustworthy artificial intelligence for humanoid robots operating in hazardous environments
  • Integrate computer vision, large and small AI models, formal reasoning, reinforcement learning, and robot control
  • Conduct hands-on research using robotic platforms, multimodal sensors, and simulation environments
  • Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers from Griffith University, CSIRO, and Cyborg Dynamics Engineering
  • Apply research to industry-relevant scenarios including explosive ordnance disposal, mining, and construction

Requirements

  • First-class honours degree or a research-based Master's degree (AQF Level 9)
  • Strong academic background in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Robotics, or Machine Learning
  • Proficiency in Python and modern machine learning frameworks
  • Australian or New Zealand citizen, or Australian permanent resident

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with embodied intelligence and autonomous systems
  • Demonstrated passion for robotics and trustworthy AI
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
