Cryo Storage Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of cryogenic storage systems, including liquid nitrogen (LN2) tanks and monitoring/alarm systems.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and strict chain-of-custody for all cryopreserved reproductive specimens.
• Manage specimen inventory using laboratory information systems (LIS) and perform routine audits and reconciliations.
• Maintain full compliance with FDA, CAP, CLIA, NYSDOH, and ASRM regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Lead, supervise, and develop the cryo-storage team through training, coaching, and competency assessments.
• Develop and enforce safety protocols related to LN2 handling and emergency response procedures.
• Collaborate with clinical, embryology, and administrative teams regarding specimen status and disposition.
• Participate in on-call coverage for cryogenic storage systems and emergency situations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an IVF laboratory, andrology laboratory, or cryogenic storage environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in cryogenic storage systems and LN2 safety.
• Proficiency in laboratory information systems, electronic medical records, and standard software (Excel, Word).
• Ability to lift and transport materials (e.g., tanks, dewars) up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to work in environments involving cold exposure and the use of appropriate PPE.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supervising or leading a laboratory team.
• Experience with cryo-inventory management systems such as IDEAS or similar platforms.
• Experience managing regulatory inspections (CAP, FDA, NYSDOH).
• Certification or formal training in laboratory quality systems or safety.
