Critical Operations Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Serve as a data center subject matter expert for electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire life safety systems
• Operate, monitor, and maintain facilities systems including electrical, mechanical, and communications infrastructure
• Track and trend operational characteristics to maximize efficiency
• Manage preventive and predictive maintenance schedules in coordination with the Data Center Manager
• Manage data floor and back of house mechanical loading capacity
• Perform infrastructure projects including cage build-outs, overhead installations, and rack and stack
• Manage trouble tickets, work orders, and asset inventory
• Provide physical security and exceptional customer service within the premises
• Monitor building fire alarm systems and conduct regular facility security tours

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (data center, hospital, or power plant preferred)
• Expert knowledge of electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, and switchgear
• Expert knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, and CRAC/CRAH units
• Proficiency with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, and NFPA 25 standards
• Experience with fiber optics, cabling infrastructure, and IT hardware troubleshooting
• Ability to pass an extensive background check and drug test
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
