About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact via phone to perform initial assessments and determine appropriate crisis responses
- Triage and assess call acuity to escalate to emergency services or refer to alternative services
- Maintain communication with field teams to ensure safety and monitor workload
- Provide acute mobile crisis support and de-escalation services for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises
- Conduct in-person assessments and develop comprehensive safety plans and post-crisis follow-up care
- Perform routine data collection and review client records
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in dispatch, crisis line work, or acute mental health services
- Degree in a mental health field (e.g., counseling, social work, psychiatric nursing, criminology, or psychology) OR 7-9 years of combined relevant education and experience
- Demonstrated expertise in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and suicide/homicide assessments
- Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and cultural humility
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with "Normal Drivers Status"
- Ability to work mandatory overtime and weekend shifts
- Successful completion of CRCL Training Curriculum
Preferred Qualifications
- Education specifically related to dispatch or crisis line work
- Lived or living experience relevant to the position
- Experience utilizing lived knowledge in service delivery and advocacy
