About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal and policy research and analysis
- Author advocacy materials, court documents, and pre-litigation demand letters
- Assist with legislative and local campaigns
- Attend hearings, court proceedings, and meetings with policymakers and advocates
- Participate in departmental strategy meetings and cross-departmental work
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in law school or a graduate program in criminal justice, public policy, or a related field
- Must earn academic credit through your institution
- Minimum commitment of 16 hours per week for 12–14 weeks (semester system)
- Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated passion for criminal justice, immigrants’ rights, and the ACLU mission
