About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise survey crew employees and execute daily construction staking and field surveying tasks
- Read and interpret construction plans, including storm drainage, sewer tables, grades, and vertical curves
- Perform Boundary, Topographic, ALTA, and other surveys with limited instruction
- Identify plan, computation, and constructability issues early
- Communicate project status and field issues to group management
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, and work sites
- Assess hazards, enforce safety policies, and execute JHAs
- Mentor and train Junior Crew Chief members
- Prepare field notes and manage data files for office support staff
- Act as company representative during client and public interactions
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Core competencies of Instrument Operator Level II
- Knowledge of TDS Software, Trimble Robotics, GPS equipment, Carlson Software, and Leica Robotics
- Valid driver's license
- Successful completion of functional assessment, motor vehicle records check, and drug test
- Ability to work outdoors, stand or walk 8–12 hours daily, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally
- Availability for overtime, weekends, overnight work, and travel as required
