Credit Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Review and analyse credit applications to determine creditworthiness and assess risk
• Evaluate financial documents, credit reports, and other relevant information to make informed credit decisions
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
• Communicate credit decisions to applicants and provide clear explanations for approvals or denials
• Monitor and manage the performance of the loan portfolio, identifying trends and potential risks
• Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting credit underwriting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
• 1–2 years of experience in credit underwriting or a similar role
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in financial analysis and risk assessment
• Familiarity with credit scoring models and underwriting software
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the fintech or banking industry
• Knowledge of local market dynamics and customer behaviour
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
