Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and repeat business requests by evaluating multiple sources of data
• Engage directly with prospective customers to gather information and communicate decisions
• Act as a referral point for internal stakeholders to ensure policy consistency
• Drive improvements in underwriting processes to balance customer experience and risk
• Leverage SQL, Python, GCP, and DBT to analyze financial data and automate workflows
• Use advanced Excel skills to model scenarios and interpret management accounts and cash flow statements

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in underwriting, preferably in small business finance
• Deep understanding of financial statements, cash flow, and management accounts
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, GCP, and DBT
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a quantitative field

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field
• Demonstrable experience in data analytics and process improvement within underwriting
