Crating Associate

Responsibilities

• Assemble packaging and build crating to protect windows and doors during shipment
• Review shipping paperwork and pull required cardboard, lumber, or packaging materials
• Calculate crate dimensions and use chop saws to cut lumber to required lengths
• Retrieve window/door units from storage and transport to packaging area
• Assemble cartons or crates using staple guns or nail guns
• Apply product stickers and shipping information to completed packaging
• Record weights and piece counts into the computer system
• Move finished crates to staging areas and complete shipping documentation

Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
• Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16th inch
• Proficiency using hand tools such as staple guns, nail guns, table saws, and chop saws
• Ability to operate a forklift and scale equipment safely
• Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Ability to visualize appropriate package sizes and perceive material imperfections
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment under tight deadlines
• Valid US work authorization
