Crane Operator

Responsibilities

• Load and unload bundles from trucks using portal crane
• Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms and lifting accessories
• Operate crane levers, foot pedals, and dials to move loads
• Monitor logs being fed into the debarker drum and notify operators of jams
• Escalate visual issues and remove debris like embedded rocks
• Lubricate crane parts according to manufacturer recommendations
• Maintain contact with Area Mill Manager and coworkers
• Perform general housekeeping including shoveling and sweeping
• Adhere to all plant environmental, health, and safety guidelines

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
• At least 1 year of experience operating earth-moving, crane, or heavy equipment
• Understanding of log loading/handling equipment (Wagner, Volvo, crane, chipper, forklifts)
• Working knowledge of log yard layout, sorting, and grading
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in various weather conditions
• Ability to work at heights up to 100 ft and climb ladders

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment or cranes
• Experience performing safety inspections on material moving equipment
• OSHA 10 General Industry Certification
• High School Diploma or GED
