About the role
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain multidisciplinary research facilities, including cleanrooms, tissue foundries, and the Diagnostic Horizons Laboratory
- Provide technical demonstrations, orientation, and safety training to students and researchers on lab equipment and procedures
- Document, maintain, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for scientific instruments and laboratory processes
- Prepare, assemble, and set up materials, equipment, and supplies for research and teaching labs
- Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and maintain equipment and supply inventories
- Determine technical requirements for fabrication projects involving 3D printing, PCB manufacturing, and mechanical testing
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and occupational hazard precautions
Requirements
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in engineering or an equivalent combination of experience
- Minimum four years of related laboratory experience in industry or academia
- Minimum two years of direct experience using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Minimum two years of experience with microfluidic device manufacturing (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC milling, PCB manufacturing)
- Proven experience preparing and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
