About the role

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain multidisciplinary research facilities, including cleanrooms, tissue foundries, and the Diagnostic Horizons Laboratory
  • Provide technical demonstrations, orientation, and safety training to students and researchers on lab equipment and procedures
  • Document, maintain, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for scientific instruments and laboratory processes
  • Prepare, assemble, and set up materials, equipment, and supplies for research and teaching labs
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and maintain equipment and supply inventories
  • Determine technical requirements for fabrication projects involving 3D printing, PCB manufacturing, and mechanical testing
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and occupational hazard precautions

Requirements

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in engineering or an equivalent combination of experience
  • Minimum four years of related laboratory experience in industry or academia
  • Minimum two years of direct experience using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Minimum two years of experience with microfluidic device manufacturing (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC milling, PCB manufacturing)
  • Proven experience preparing and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
