About the role
Responsibilities
- Promote research programs and initiatives to potential industry, governmental, and finance collaborators to increase visibility and reputation
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate seminars, workshops, and strategic partnerships
- Write compelling grant applications and funding proposals to acquire resources for research programs and consortia
- Deliver professional presentations to promote program offerings and research capabilities
- Monitor program accounts, including project expense/revenue modeling, cost-to-completion forecasting, and financial tracking
- Foster and maintain professional networks to build research capacity and collaboration
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or an equivalent field
- Minimum of six years of experience in an academic setting, including research and stakeholder engagement
- Proven experience in project management within a related research field
- Demonstrated success in identifying, attracting, and retaining research partnerships with private sector and government agencies
- Extensive experience in grant writing and developing convincing funding proposals
- Proficiency in financial tracking, including revenue modeling and expense forecasting
- Advanced knowledge of the academic and industrial research landscape related to microfluidics
- Superior communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Understanding of research contracts, intellectual property, and funding opportunities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with research groups at the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience in microfluidic device design, use, and implementation
