CPU Physical Design CAD Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and release new features within high-performance place-and-route CAD flows
• Architect and recommend methodology improvements to optimize silicon power, performance, and area (PPA)
• Maintain, support, and debug implementation flows while resolving project-specific issues
• Collaborate with worldwide CPU physical design teams to provide methodology guidance and tool support
• Partner with EDA vendors to define product roadmaps and resolve complex tool issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field
• 6+ years of hardware engineering or related work experience (Master's degree requires 5+ years; PhD requires 4+ years)
• Proficiency in Tcl and Python scripting languages
• Hands-on experience with place-and-route implementation flows

Preferred Qualifications

• Ten or more years of experience in place-and-route of high-performance chips in a design or CAD role
• Extensive experience with automation and a wide variety of Physical Design tasks (analysis, timing sign-off, PDV)
• Experience working with advanced technology nodes (5nm or lower)
• Solid understanding of digital design, timing analysis, and physical verification
• Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Cadence Innovus
• Proven track record of managing and regressing place-and-route flows
