About the role

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and monitor Colombia's macroeconomic developments, identifying key risks and opportunities.
  • Lead research for Country Diagnostic for Impact (CDI), Country Engagement Notes, and Country Strategy.
  • Participate in policy dialogue with counterparts such as the Central Bank and Ministry of Finance.
  • Generate analytical and policy-relevant knowledge to identify growth solutions for the country and region.
  • Lead the country-level research agenda and deliver high-impact, publishable work.
  • Provide strategic and analytical inputs for programming dialogues and ensure alignment with the Country Strategy.
  • Review the viability and alignment of lending operations and technical cooperation with program priorities.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or master's degree in economics or a closely related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience in economic research, monitoring, econometrics, or fiscal sustainability.
  • Proven knowledge of standard debt analysis techniques, balance of payments, and sustainability analysis.
  • Proficiency in econometrics software such as STATA, R, or MATLAB.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  • Citizenship of an IDB member country.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the IDB or other multilateral development organizations.
  • Experience with policy issues and development problems specific to Latin American and Caribbean countries.
