About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide psychoeducational and process group counselling, including conducting group sessions 1-2x daily
- Deliver weekly individual recovery-focused counselling sessions and develop outcome-oriented treatment plans
- Monitor client participation in the program and hold clients accountable to recovery principles and program requirements
- Assist clients in establishing goals, monitoring progress, and preparing discharge plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, session notes, and progress reports in secure databases
- Liaise with referral sources and external agencies such as welfare, police, or parole officers
- Engage with clients in a trauma-informed, ethical, and collaborative manner
- Ensure client confidentiality is maintained in accordance with privacy legislation
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of community college education in a counselling field
- Criminal Record Review Program clearance to work with vulnerable adults
- Current certification or willingness to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Mental Health First Aid, and Naloxone Training
- Documentation confirming compliance with provincial immunization and tuberculosis control programs
- Experience in recovery-focused substance use or addiction treatment services
- Experience in a direct service frontline role serving women or female-identifying clients
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership in good standing with a Canadian counselling certification body (e.g., RCC, RSW, MSW, or equivalent)
- Completion of Indigenous Cultural Safety Training
- Experience working in a community care licensed facility
- Lived experience related to recovery
- Proficiency with CAMS (Case Administration Management System) or similar client databases
