Counsel

Responsibilities

• Administer and enforce the NFL-NFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and various player policies, including PES, SOA, and Personal Conduct policies.
• Represent the league and 32 member Clubs in litigation, grievance hearings, and arbitrations under the CBA.
• Oversee anti-doping investigations and enforcement, supervising jointly appointed experts such as toxicologists and physicians.
• Defend disciplinary decisions at appeal hearings related to policy violations, including positive test results and conduct detrimental to the league.
• Provide legal counsel to the league and clubs regarding the Salary Cap, Player Personnel rules, and other collectively bargained regulations.
• Supervise outside counsel, consultants, and law firms involved in litigation and policy administration.
• Develop and lead educational programming for NFL Players regarding their policy obligations.

Requirements

• Law Degree (J.D.).
• Minimum 5 to 6+ years of litigation experience at a top law firm or in federal/state criminal practice.
• Proven experience conducting investigations and maintaining a docket of litigation matters.
• Significant experience handling arbitrations and/or trials.
• Experience with workplace or sports league policies, including anti-doping, drug screening, or conduct policies.
