About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to the Heart Failure Division regarding medical device regulations, commercial operations, and business payor relations.
- Review and revise payor agreements and offer guidance on contracting strategies.
- Provide legal guidance on DMEPOS and IDTF operations, including billing, reimbursement, auditing, and compliance.
- Draft, negotiate, and review a wide range of agreements related to procurement, sales, licensing, marketing, and research collaborations.
- Review marketing programs and promotional materials to ensure compliance with FTC principles and applicable laws.
- Resolve legal issues through negotiation and pre-litigation dispute resolution.
- Assist in creating template agreements, playbooks, and training to support efficient contracting processes.
- Maintain familiarity with laws affecting sales and marketing, including Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, HIPAA, and FCPA.
- Manage and direct the work of outside counsel, including budget monitoring.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Admission to a US state bar in good standing.
- 3+ years of experience as a commercial attorney in-house or at a top law firm.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with regulations governing Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) or Independent Diagnostic Testing Facilities (IDTFs).
- Experience working with healthcare providers and understanding payor agreement contracting, billing, and reimbursement.
- Experience in a regulated industry.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
