Costume Shop Manager/Draper

Responsibilities

• Supervise and carry out all aspects of the costume shop for the Theatre & Dance Department
• Work with faculty, students, and guest designers to realize designs for all supported shows
• Schedule, supervise, and provide mentorship to work-study students
• Maintain shop supplies, equipment, and storage areas while ensuring a safe working environment
• Coordinate and lead all alterations, builds, and crafts
• Drape, pattern, cut, and construct all costume builds
• Manage show preparation, including measurements, spending records, and piece lists
• Recruit and train wardrobe crew and coordinate duties during tech weeks and show runs
• Organize and supervise show strike, including dry cleaning and rental returns

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience
• At least 1 year of related experience
• Proficiency in costume draping, patterning, cutting, and stitching
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated achievement in professional costume shop management and draping
• Experience with fabric manipulation, such as dyeing or painting
• Additional costume crafting experience
