Costume Shop Manager

Responsibilities

• Maintain the costume shop, including inventory, equipment, and budget management.
• Assist the Costume Designer with taking measurements, conducting fittings, and constructing costumes.
• Plan construction timelines and oversee the actual construction of costumes for seasonal productions.
• Supervise and mentor work-study students assigned to the costume shop.
• Oversee and assist the Costume Designer during dress rehearsals.
• Manage the costume strike process, including laundering, restocking, and returning items to storage.
• Model the University Mission through dedicated performance and respectful collaboration.

Requirements

• BFA in costume technology or design.
• Minimum of one year of professional live entertainment experience (e.g., regional theatre, cruise lines).
• Minimum of one year of costume shop management or equivalent management experience.
• Proficiency in pattern making, cutting, draping, fabric modification, and stitching.
• Ability to supervise and mentor multiple individuals, including students.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• MFA in costume design or technology.
• Two to five years of leadership or supervisory experience in a costume shop.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
