Cost Lead

About the Company

Fluidstack is focused on delivering massive scale compute infrastructure for AI. The company acquires power, designs and builds data centers, and operates them with teams spanning hardware and software to accelerate the deployment of frontier compute.

Responsibilities

• Own cost planning across all project phases from concept through GMP negotiation
• Develop detailed estimates for civil, structural, MEP, power, cooling, and fuel systems
• Maintain real-time cost forecasts and track actuals vs. budget
• Manage change order reviews, assessing scope validity and commercial accuracy
• Prepare executive-level cost reports and manage contingency tracking
• Lead value engineering exercises to optimize cost without compromising scope
• Support procurement through bid leveling and scope gap analysis
• Build the cost management function from the ground up, including tools and workflows
• Establish unit cost benchmark databases for key data center cost categories

Requirements

• Experience with cost management, quantity surveying, or construction estimating
• Hands-on experience in data center or mission-critical construction
• Deep understanding of the DC cost stack including MEP, HV/LV power, and cooling systems
• Knowledge of how design decisions translate to capital costs
• Familiarity with GMP, lump sum, and cost-plus contract structures
• Proficiency with cost management tooling such as Procore or Sage
• Degree in construction management, quantity surveying, or engineering
• Ability to build processes and functions from scratch in a fast-moving environment

• Owner-side experience
• Deep domain knowledge in hyperscale or large-scale build-to-suit projects
