About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct incoming, in-process, and outbound inspections of railcars to monitor repairs and compliance.
  • Assess railcar conditions to ensure they meet AAR regulations and customer specifications.
  • Prepare detailed estimates for repair costs, including parts, materials, and labor.
  • Act as a primary liaison between customers, railroad personnel, and the maintenance facility.
  • Requisition necessary repair parts and materials.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including invoices, AAR billing repair cards, and testing records.
  • Utilize various tools, gauges, and measuring devices for the inspection process.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use inspection tools and equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and other digital systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility to work overtime hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within the rail industry.
