About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and outbound inspections of railcars to monitor repairs and compliance.
- Assess railcar conditions to ensure they meet AAR regulations and customer specifications.
- Prepare detailed estimates for repair costs, including parts, materials, and labor.
- Act as a primary liaison between customers, railroad personnel, and the maintenance facility.
- Requisition necessary repair parts and materials.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including invoices, AAR billing repair cards, and testing records.
- Utilize various tools, gauges, and measuring devices for the inspection process.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use inspection tools and equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and other digital systems.
- Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Flexibility to work overtime hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working within the rail industry.
