About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise inmates within Grant County Correctional Facilities to ensure safety and security
- Manage inmate intake, booking, processing, and housing based on risk assessments
- Conduct regular searches of inmates, property, and facility areas for contraband and hazards
- Escort inmates to court, medical, or outside appointments while maintaining officer safety
- Monitor inmate behavior, including mental health status and medical needs, and log observations
- Enforce facility policies, departmental regulations, and state/federal laws
- Maintain accurate and detailed reports, logs, and investigative files
- Operate specialized equipment including firearms, less-lethal weapons, and surveillance systems
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- United States citizenship
- No record of felony convictions and/or a pattern of misdemeanors
- Ability to pass Civil Service written, physical, and oral board exams
- Ability to complete the Corrections Officers Academy within 6 months of employment
- Successful completion of polygraph and psychological examinations
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
- No use of illegal drugs within the past 5 years
