Corrections Officer

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, secure, and humane environment within jail facilities by supervising inmates and ensuring facility security
• Perform inmate booking, including interviews, fingerprinting, photographing, and entering data into computer systems
• Conduct regular security checks, headcounts, and searches of inmates and facilities to prevent the flow of contraband
• Supervise inmate activities, including food services, movement between areas, and recreational or educational programs
• Monitor the use of prescribed medications and manage inmate medical and healthcare arrangements
• Investigate rule violations, write reports, and participate in disciplinary proceedings
• Maintain custody and control of inmates during transportation to courts or other medical facilities

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age
• United States citizen or legal permanent resident
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Physical fitness sufficient to pass the Physical Ability Test (PAT)
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph examination, and psychological evaluation
• Ability to work a 12-hour schedule following a "4 on 4 off" rotation, including weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a security setting
• Military experience
