Corrections Deputy 1

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise inmates within the Grant County Correctional Facilities to ensure safety and security
• Manage inmate intake, booking, processing, housing, and care
• Provide secure supervision of inmates during District and Superior Court hearings
• Conduct regular searches of inmates, property, housing areas, and vehicles for contraband or safety hazards
• Escort inmates to court, medical appointments, or outside assignments, maintaining officer safety at all times
• Perform booking duties including fingerprinting, identification, and property inventory
• Maintain accurate and detailed logs, reports, and criminal history files using specialized software
• Enforce facility policies and respond to unusual incidents, emergencies, or security breaches
• Operate firearms, less-lethal weapons, and surveillance equipment proficiently

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must be a United States citizen
• No record of felony convictions or a pattern of misdemeanors
• Must pass Public Safety Testing (PST) written and physical fitness tests prior to application
• Must pass polygraph, psychological, and pre-employment drug screenings
• No illegal drug use within the past 5 years
• Ability to successfully complete the Corrections Officers Academy within 6 months of employment
