About the role
Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise inmates within the Grant County Correctional Facilities to ensure safety and security
- Manage inmate intake, booking, processing, housing, and care
- Provide secure supervision of inmates during District and Superior Court hearings
- Conduct regular searches of inmates, property, housing areas, and vehicles for contraband or safety hazards
- Escort inmates to court, medical appointments, or outside assignments, maintaining officer safety at all times
- Perform booking duties including fingerprinting, identification, and property inventory
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs, reports, and criminal history files using specialized software
- Enforce facility policies and respond to unusual incidents, emergencies, or security breaches
- Operate firearms, less-lethal weapons, and surveillance equipment proficiently
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be a United States citizen
- No record of felony convictions or a pattern of misdemeanors
- Must pass Public Safety Testing (PST) written and physical fitness tests prior to application
- Must pass polygraph, psychological, and pre-employment drug screenings
- No illegal drug use within the past 5 years
- Ability to successfully complete the Corrections Officers Academy within 6 months of employment
